The Broadway Advocacy Coalition will hold its second fundraiser, Broadway VS, on June 20, coinciding with the Juneteenth celebration.
The fundraiser will be broadcast live from New World Stages beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The event will be hosted by Amber Iman and will honor Norm Lewis and Joshua Henry.
The Broadway Advocacy Coalition was founded in 2016 by Broadway artists and activists with a mission to bring together artists, legal advocates and community leaders to facilitate change and impact policy issues ranging from l immigration education and beyond.
The organization won a special Tony award in 2021.
“This year, Broadway VS pays tribute to two black men who have inspired and influenced the theater community for years,” said Director of Industry Initiatives Zhailon Levingston. “In that spirit, we want to use this event to intentionally bring together and uplift so many other black men – too rarely given their own space to be celebrated – to honor our historic and invaluable presence on stage, but also behind the scenes, in front of home, school and across all theater departments while continuing to advocate for the need for a broader celebration of all marginalized communities.
