President of PREB Edison Avilés-Deliz.
The Puerto Rico Energy Bureau has confirmed that the next public hearing — to be held virtually — is scheduled for Feb. 28, inviting island residents and other interested parties to participate.
“We want to remember [everyone] that all hearings are accessible, especially the one scheduled for February 28, and that LUMA and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) have been invited to be duly represented by officials prepared to respond appropriately. and in a satisfactory manner each of the questions asked, in particular those that relate to the evaluation of its performance so far, ”said the president of the PREB, Edison Avilés-Deliz.
The agency’s hearings, workshops and technical conferences are being held remotely to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Attendees can access the virtual events using the Microsoft Teams platform and can watch them live through the Puerto Rico Energy Office YouTube channel.
Avilés-Deliz said that “these tools guarantee the transparency of each process and encourage that our citizens, as well as any interested party, have first-hand and immediate information”.
During the next hearing, the agency will receive information from LUMA and PREPA “to assess, review and promote both the implementation and the audit and monitoring parameters of the transition report and plan that must be implemented as of October 1 this year,” he said.
Those interested in attending the technical conference should request access by 5:00 p.m. the day before by emailing [email protected]; or by contacting the Office of Energy at 787-523-6262.
