NHS Lanarkshire is hosting a virtual event for those interested in the health sector

A virtual event will be held for pupils in Lanarkshire schools who aspire to join the healthcare field.

NextGen will offer a virtual preview of NHS Lanarkshire careers on March 30 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The webinar will offer fully interactive live chat with speakers and question and answer sessions, and there will also be interactive booths with downloadable resources.

The event is aimed at secondary school pupils from North and South Lanarkshire, adults looking for a career change, parents and teachers invited to join.

There is a range of career opportunities in the healthcare industry, including medicine, nursing, allied health professionals, pharmacy, psychology, optometry, business and administration, life sciences, health and midwifery. The careers event will offer an overview of certain professions.

The day will begin with a webinar for those interested in a career in psychology. It will run from 4:15-4:45 p.m. and this highlight session will provide insight into a career involving the mind. Psychological Services staff will be present and will provide career information.

From 5-5:30 p.m., a Medical Careers Spotlight webinar will take place, where physicians and medical students will discuss real-life experiences and outline the many and varied opportunities available in the field.

A session on nursing and midwifery will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and will include representatives from community nursing, home care nursing, mental health and learning disabilities nursing, and maternity care, neonatal and transitional. Teams will discuss what a career in nursing or midwifery has to offer.

Finally, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., a webinar on the paramedical professions and pharmacy will take place. Allied Healthcare Professionals is a group in NHS Lanarkshire that helps people of all ages lead healthy, active and independent lives. They include speech therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, audiologists, orthotics services, radiographers, orthoptists, spiritual care, and dietitians. This session will explain the importance of these roles and offer insight and insights from professionals in pharmacy positions.
