Nursing in Practice is hosting a free two-day virtual event today and tomorrow (May 25-26), bringing updates and information on immunization, cardiovascular disease and respiratory care.
The two programs, which are the first in a series of virtual events in 2022, are chaired by an advanced nurse practitioner, an independent prescriber and Nursing in practice Advisory Board Member, Helen Lewis.
Today’s (May 25) show, which nurses can still subscribe to, looks at key aspects of immunization, vaccination and cardiovascular disease.
Highlights include Michaela Nuttall, Clinical Advisor for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), who will remind attendees that not all chest pain is related to “pain in the chest”.
Meanwhile Clare Henderson, Travel Nurse Specialist from Glasgow, will ask what travelers during the Covid-19 pandemic need to know. She will outline pre-trip preparation, strategies to minimize risk while traveling, and things to look out for once you get home.
Dr George Kassianos and Clinical Nurse Specialist Yvonne Gibney will talk about the GP contract and vaccinations and immunizations, while AF Clinical Nurse Specialist Kevin McGibbon will discuss the diagnosis and management of atrial fibrillation.
The closing session of the day is a discussion on lessons for the general practice of Covid-19 vaccination.
The second day of the program will cover aspects of respiratory care.
The busy day-long opening session, accessible virtually, will see Carol Stonham, Senior Nurse Practitioner, Respiratory, discuss delivering greener respiratory care.
Other key presentations of the day include hot topics in asthma management, such as inhaler guidelines and technique, patient journeys for sleep apnea and maintenance therapy and backup (MART).
