Fossil Group has informed that the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant is now available on Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches. Here is everything you need to know.
Fossil Group announced on Thursday that Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch users now officially have access to the Amazon Alexa for Smartwatches app. According to information provided by the company, on Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches, Alexa can be preloaded and paired with phones running the latest version of Android (excluding Go edition and phones without Google Play Store) in supported countries. Once logged in, users will have options to access Alexa on their smartwatch screen, including both the Alexa tile and the Alexa app.
You will be able to quickly access Tiles by swiping left from the watch face. You can also access Alexa via a third option by configuring the pushers, allowing a single button press to trigger and launch the Alexa app. The tile and app will allow users to press a button to talk to Alexa, with unique branded customization experiences for Fossil, Michael Kors and Skagen smartwatch users.
“The usage options are limitless and completely personal – whether you’re using your Alexa for your smart home devices, music control, grocery shopping, shopping on Amazon and more. The Fossil Group is looking forward to expanding the tile and app functionality,” the company said.
Customers can now have additional ways to customize their smartwatches to fit their lifestyle. The Google Assistant will continue to be the default assistant on the smartwatch, and users will continue to press and hold the home button to engage. For consumers not currently using Alexa, tiles can be customized as usual based on which ones are most relevant to them.
Discussing the collaboration, Johnson Verghese, Managing Director of Fossil India, said, “We are delighted to announce the expansion of our smartwatch functionality with the launch of Alexa! The smartwatch experience is designed to make life easier for the user – infusing efficiency into everything from exercise to paying for groceries. With the introduction of Alexa, we hope our Gen 6 users will find added convenience to their lifestyle without compromising on style.
